Hello, friend. It’s been a while since I’ve said anything here, or said anything about our upcoming film, MIA&I. This update will contain a summary of the project details, an overview of where in the process we are for post-production and what comes next.
Where Are We Now?
MIA&I has been in post-production for well over a year now, and we’ve been working hard to make sure every bit of it is the best version we can produce on our limited budget and busy schedules. Our 3-person (or 2, if you ask Aden Hepsten) post-production team has been having countless meetings and iterating the film to get things just right for the last few months.
The entire post-production process slowed down tremendously as a result of the pandemic, and we had to work remotely over the last year, which isn’t easy with something as collaborative as filmmaking. That being said, I’m happy to announce that MIA&I has been completed. We have a full final cut of the film, ready to screen. The full running time is just under 46 minutes (short film for what, huh?).
What Comes Next?
So what now? Well, if you’re one of our awesome cast or crew members, or a crowdfunding backer, you’ll be able to watch our film early in May. We’ve scheduled a digital premiere for the amazing people who made this film possible, and we can’t wait to show each and every one of them. To our amazing cast, crew and backers, thank you for putting the time, effort, and money into making this a possibility. We could never have done this without you.
For everyone else, we’re working out a plan for how the film will be made available publicly. We’re exploring various options on how best to distribute the film, and we are also considering a festival run before we make it publicly available. For now, keep an eye on the MIA&I official social media feeds for more updates in the coming months.
A Sneak Peek
Okay, you’ve made it this far, so now you get a little sneak peek. Here are a few exclusive stills, in colour, from MIA&I, the latest film by Stephen Nagel & Dean Ravell, produced by Haniefa Mooideen and Nicola Duddy. Cinematography by Stephen Phillipson. Sound design and original score by Bobby Dean. The film stars Roxanne Rose Modricky, Candice Burgess-Look and Caelan Curry in the leading roles. Enjoy!
